Mark
The Fast-Paced Gospel of the Servant King
The Gospel of Mark is the shortest, fastest, and most action-packed biography of Jesus. Written by John Mark, an early disciple and traveling companion of Peter, it was likely composed around AD 65–70. Many historians believe it was originally circulated to Roman Christians who were facing severe, life-threatening persecution under the Emperor Nero.
Unlike other Gospels that spend chapters on Jesus' birth or long sermons, Mark starts at a dead sprint. The word 'immediately' appears dozens of times. Jesus is constantly on the move—confronting demons, healing the sick, challenging corrupt religious leaders, and marching decisively toward His own execution.
Mark forces every reader to grapple with two vital questions: 'Who exactly is Jesus?' and 'What does it actually cost to follow Him?' For the skeptic or the spiritual seeker, Mark offers a raw, unpolished, and intensely human portrait of a King who came not to be served, but to give His life away.
