2 Corinthians

Power Made Perfect in Weakness

Paul wrote this letter to the church in Corinth around 55-56 CE. The relationship between the apostle and this particular church was deeply complicated, marked by painful visits, stinging letters, and rival teachers who were actively trying to undermine Paul's credibility.

Because the tone shifts so abruptly in chapter 10—moving from joyful reconciliation to fierce defensiveness—many scholars believe 2 Corinthians is actually a compilation of two or more letters stitched together by the early church. Regardless of how it was assembled, it stands as the most personal, emotionally raw, and vulnerable surviving piece of Paul's writing.

For anyone who has ever experienced the pain of a fractured friendship, the heavy burden of leadership, or the quiet fear of being fundamentally inadequate, 2 Corinthians offers profound comfort. It presents a radical, upside-down view of success, arguing that God's power is most visible not in our polished achievements, but in our deepest weaknesses.
